Hunter Brown Over 5.5 Strikeouts -145 (PointsBet)
Despite being a rookie, Brown is in the 75th percentile for K rate and averages well over a strikeout per inning pitched. He has gone over this number in each of his last three starts and in 10/16 starts this season. The Mariners have the 2nd highest K rate against righties this season and the third-highest K rate on the road. In the month of July so far, it’s the same story for the Mariners – they are 4th in strikeout rate. Brown should reach six strikeouts today.
Zac Gallen Over 6.5 Strikeouts +110 (FanDuel)
Zac Gallen rings up batters at a 31.3% clip at home this season, and he should ring up seven or more Pirates tonight at home. The Pirates are 7th in K rate in the month of July. Gallen is in the 72nd percentile for K rate, the 75th for whiff%, and the 79th in chase rate. He has gone over this number in 10/18 starts this season, and at plus money, this is a great matchup for him to do it again.
Corbin Burnes Under 6.5 Strikeouts +115 (DraftKings)
Burnes has found his groove this season, and he looks like the dominant strikeout pitcher he was last season. Despite ranking highly in whiff and chase percentiles this season, Burnes is only in the 47th percentile for K rate. Over the last week, the Reds are last in K rate, 4th in contact percentage, 7th in zone contact rate, and 11th in outside-of-the-zone contact percentage. This Reds team is not easy to ring up, and at plus money, the under for Byrnes is the play.
