MLB Player Props – Best Bets for 7/6

We have a bigger Thursday MLB card than normal and are certainly not complaining about it. What are the best MLB player props to lock in today? Let’s dive in. For more props, sides, and total bets, click here.

MLB Player Props – Best Bets

Lane Thomas Over 1.5 Total Bases -105 (BetMGM)

Lane Thomas has been raking against lefties this season, and he has another great matchup today at home. Brandon Williamson has allowed eight home runs and nine doubles to right-handed batters in 35 innings of work. His advanced metrics are terrible – he has a 6.15 FIP, a 5.41 xFIP, and a .355 wOBA against right-handed batters. Thomas bats .385 against lefties this season with seven home runs, eight doubles, a .298 ISO, and a 198 wRC+. It may take two at-bats for Thomas to get there, but he is an auto bet against lefties at this point.

MacKenzie Gore Under 6.5 Strikeouts -140 (BetMGM)

MacKenzie Gore is a great young pitcher with strikeout stuff, but he has a tough matchup today against the Reds. Cincinnati is last in K rate over the last week, and they are 4th in contact percentage. Gore relies on getting whiffs and chases to rack up strikeouts, but the Reds are 7th in z-contact%, and they have the lowest o-swing% with the 11th o-contact%. Gore is boom or bust. He has gone over this number in just 7/17 starts this season, and he is coming off a start where he did not make it out of the 2nd inning. Gore should have trouble against this Reds’ offense today.

Nathan Eovaldi Under 5.5 Strikeouts -122 (FanDuel)

Eovaldi was with the Red Sox last season, so while I am sure he would love to have a great start against his former team, I am bearish that he will. Boston has been striking out a lot recently, but Eovaldi does not fit the same mold as the pitchers who have been having success against Boston. He has gone over this number just one time in his last four starts, and he is in the 58th percentile for K rate, the 65th for chase rate, and the 53rd for whiff%. Boston chases and whiffs below the league average, and they have the 5th highest contact rate over the last week. Eovaldi should not rack up six Ks tonight.
