Steven Matz Under 4.5 Strikeouts +100 (FanDuel)

Steven Matz is not a strikeout pitcher, and he should have a tough time ringing up five or more D-Backs tonight on the road. On the season, Matz has gone over this number in just 5/21 starts. He is in the 41st percentile for K rate, the 49th for whiff%, and the 29th for chase rate. Arizona both chases and whiffs below the league average, and on the season, they are 23rd in K rate against left-handed pitching. Matz should go under this number comfortably.

George Kirby Over 5.5 Strikeouts -140 (FanDuel)

George Kirby’s last start was against this same Twins team, and he racked up ten strikeouts in seven innings of work. Kirby lives around the strike zone, and the Twins are the worst team in baseball at making contact. On the season, the Twins have the lowest Z-contact% and the lowest contact% in general. Over the past week, the Twins have the third lowest Z-contact% and the 6th lowest contact rate in general. Though Kirby is not a huge strikeout pitcher, asking him for six strikeouts does not seem like asking for too much.

Manny Machado Over 1.5 Total Bases +105 (DraftKings)

Machado has been hitting lefties well all season long, and tonight he has a matchup against a pitcher he knows well. In his career, Machado is 5-12 (.417) against Rich Hill with two doubles and two home runs. On the season against lefties, Machado is batting .322 with a .195 ISO, a 148 wRC+, and 28 total hits. The Pirates’ bullpen is also not great, so even if Machado does not get to Hill, he still will have a shot to go over this number.
