Braxton Garrett Over 5.5 Strikeouts -135 (DraftKings)

On the season, Garrett is averaging over a strikeout an inning, and he is in the 71st percentile for K rate, the 60th for whiff%, and the 90th for chase rate. In the month of July, the Rockies have the 5th highest K rate, and they are 20th in Z-Contact%. On the season against lefties, the Rockies have the third-highest K rate. Garrett induces chases, and Colorado is 4th in the MLB in chase rate. This is a great matchup for Garrett to lock in six or more strikeouts.

Gavin Williams Over 4.5 Strikeouts -138 (FanDuel)

The Phillies aren’t the easiest team to strike out, but they chase a lot of balls. On the season, the Phillies are tied for 2nd in chase%. Gavin Williams has only gone over this number in 2/5 big league starts, but he is in the 73rd percentile in inducing chases. Since July 16th, the Phillies are 6th in O-Swing% and 18th in O-Contact%. In his last four starts, Williams is 12th in the MLB in O-Swing%. Considering how Philly loves to chase, and Williams likes to pitch around the zone, this is a good matchup for him to rack up five or more strikeouts.

Alex Wood Under 3.5 Strikeouts +120 (FanDuel)

Alex Wood is in just the 34th percentile for K rate, the 41st for whiff%, and the 4th for chase rate. The Nationals have the 28th K rate against left-handed pitching this season. Wood has not pitched more than 5.2 innings this season, and he normally hovers around 70 pitches per start. Also, Washington is stronger against left-handed pitching, so they have a better chance of getting to Wood early. Add on that the Nationals have the lowest K rate at home in the MLB this season, and this is an easy bet to make.
