Merrill Kelly Over 5.5 Strikeouts -145 (BetMGM)
Kelly is having a fantastic year so far, and he is in a great position to rack up strikeouts tonight against the Tigers. Kelly is in the 75th percentile for K rate, the 62nd for whiff%, and the 92nd for chase rate. The Tigers’ offense has fallen off a cliff. In June, they have a laughable 13 wRC+, and they have a .188 wOBA and a 32.7% K rate. There is no need to overthink this – Kelly is pitching well, and the Tigers cannot hit water if they fell out of a boat. Let’s ride the hot hand in Kelly.
Tyler Wells Over 5.5 Strikeouts -139 (BetRivers)
Wells is a lesser-known pitcher, but he has the goods when it comes to striking people out. Wells is in the 70th percentile for K rate, the 66th for whiff%, and the 51st for chase rate. Wells faced the Royals at Kauffman Stadium and only had four strikeouts in early May, but Wells is a better pitcher at Camden Yards. His K rate jumps to 29.9% when he is at home, and the Royals have a 24.4% K rate in the month of June. Asking Wells to get six strikeouts does not seem like too much to ask for.
Ranger Suarez Under 4.5 Strikeouts -136 (BetRivers)
Suarez had a late start to the season due to injury, and while he has pitched fine, he is not racking up strikeouts. He has gone over this number in just 1/5 of starts so far, and now he has a matchup against a lineup that destroys left-handed pitching. The Dodgers do not strike out a lot against lefties, and the Phillies bullpen is rested, meaning if Los Angeles jumps on Suarez, his leash will be short. Take the under for Ranger.
