MLB Player Props – Best Bets for 6/8

Thursdays are always small MLB slates, but there are always good player props to bet on. What are the best MLB player props to lock in today? Let’s take a look.

MLB Player Props – Best Bets

Reid Detmers Over 6.5 Strikeouts +115 (BetMGM)

Detmers has had an up-and-down strikeout season, but the young Southpaw has a good matchup to rack up strikeouts today. He has only gone over this number in 4/10 starts this season, but when he is on, he can consistently ring up batters. He is in the 68th percentile for K rate, the 79th for whiff%, and the 40th for chase rate. The Cubs hit lefties well when they make contact, but that is not often the case. The Cubs have the 3rd highest K percentage over the last week and the 6th highest against lefties on the season. If Chicago can get on Detmers early, they can knock him out of the game, but if Detmers’ pitches are working, the Cubs’ offense may stand no chance.

Aaron Civale Under 4.5 Strikeouts -108 (FanDuel)

After a rough start to the season, Civale was sent down to AAA to get his game up, and he is making his 2nd start since being called up. In his last start against the strikeout-heavy Twins, he only racked up four Ks on 83 pitches in five innings of work. The Red Sox enter this matchup with a 20.6% K rate over the last week, which actually matches their strikeout percentage against right-handed pitchers this entire season so far.

Justin Verlander Over 5.5 Strikeouts -115 (BetRivers)

His Mets tenure has not gotten off to the best start, but I find it hard to believe Justin Verlander is not a great pitcher anymore. He has just 30 strikeouts in 26 innings of work, and he is in the 32nd percentile for K rate, the 16th for whiff%, and the 69th for chase rate. Atlanta has just a 20% K rate over the last week, but they struck out nine times to Max Scherzer yesterday. Verlander is coming off his best start at a Met, so we are willing to bet that he can regain his form tonight in Atlanta.
