Framber Valdez Over 5.5 Strikeouts -110 (DraftKings)

Valdez’s strikeout numbers have been great this season, and now he faces a Cardinals team in their first game back from London. Valdez is in the 70th percentile for K rate, the 57th for whiff%, and the 39th for chase rate. The Cardinals have a 22.7% K rate against left-handed pitching this season. Valdez has a 26.9% K rate on the road, and the Cardinals have a 21.6% K rate at home this season. Six strikeouts seem very doable for Valdez.

Sandy Alcantara Under 5.5 Strikeouts -149 (Caesars)

Alcantara does not look like the pitcher who won the NL Cy Young award last year, and he has a tough matchup today against the Red Sox. Alcantara has gone over this number in 6/15 starts this year, and Miami lets him pitch deep into games even when he is getting hit around. Still, Alcantara is in the 24th percentile for K rate despite being in the 91st for chase rate. The Red Sox have the 2nd lowest K rate at home this season and are 25th in K rate against right-handed pitching, so despite the fact that Boston has been striking out a lot this past week, I think this is a bounce-back spot for Boston’s offense.

Bryan Woo Over 4.5 Strikeouts -156 (FanDuel)

Bryan Woo has been cooking over his last three starts, and he is in a good position to ring up five or more Nationals today at home. Woo has 25 Ks in 17.2 innings of work, and despite the Nationals being one of the better contact teams in baseball, Woo has strikeout stuff. He has gone over this number in all but the first start of his career, so asking Woo for five Ks is not asking too much.
