Yesterday was a small yet exciting slate of MLB action. Today we have all 30 teams playing, which means there are a lot of great MLB Bets today to find and bet on. Where is there value on the board today? Let’s look at the MLB Bets today worth taking.
MLB Bets Today – Best Player Props
Eury Perez Over 4.5 Strikeouts -105 (Caesars)
If you never heard the name, well, today is a big day. Eury Perez, the best Marlins pitching prospect since Jose Fernandez, is making his MLB debut. He was called up directly from AA to make the start tonight at home against the Reds. So far this year in AA, he has a 12.19 K/9. The Reds can mash when they are hot, but considering the unique skillset, height, and extension Perez brings to the table, I expect him to have a great day. The Reds are 7th in K rate against righties and 10th in K rate on the road, so it will not be easy, but I’d rather bet on the kid than against him.
James Paxton Under 4.5 Strikeouts -134 (FanDuel)
In his prime, James Paxton was a strikeout machine. However, Paxton has pitched just 21.2 innings since 2019. Not to mention, Paxton has been bad in the minors as he worked his way back. Five of the last eight left-handed starters have gone under this number against the Cardinals. It’s hard to imagine there is not a pitch count in place for Paxton as well. I’ll gladly go under here.
Matthew Boyd Over 4.5 Strikeouts -130 (DraftKings)
Boyd has only gone over this number twice this season, but he has a great matchup to do so today against the Mariners. Seattle strikes out the 3rd most against lefties and the most on the road out of any team in the MLB. Boyd is only in the 40th percentile for K rate, but he is in the 73rd for whiff% and the 84th for chase rate, meaning he can put out batters if need be. Seattle is above the league average in chase rate and whiff rate, so considering how strikeout prone they are, Boyd should be able to have five or more Ks today.
