MLB Player Props – Best Bets for Monday, April 17th

This past weekend was loaded with great baseball, and today should be no different. We have 13 games and a bunch of new series beginning, and today should be an exciting day. Where is there value in the player prop market? Let’s dive in.

MLB Player Props – Best Straight Bets

Hunter Greene Over 7.5 Strikeouts +114 (FanDuel)

Hunter Greene has had a polarizing start to the season, but when he is on, he looks like an ace. Greene had 10 strikeouts in his last outing against the Braves with zero walks, and when he pitches like that, he racks up strikeouts even if he doesn’t pitch that deep into games. Tampa Bay has a low strikeout rate and a high walk rate against righties, but they also haven’t seen someone like Greene yet this season. I think Greene can overpower this Tampa Bay offense, and if he has command, easily go over this number today.

Logan Webb Over 5.5 Strikeouts -110 (BetMGM)

Webb, who just signed a huge extension with the Giants, was supposed to pitch yesterday, but the Giants’ game got postponed. Now, we will open the series against Miami in Miami. Webb had six Ks in his last outing, and I expect him to have six or more again today against the Marlins. Miami has the 5th highest K rate against righties and the 5th highest K rate at home. Webb should get over this number handily.

Jacob deGrom Over 8.5 Strikeouts +108 (FanDuel)

Asking a pitcher to throw nine Ks is a lot to ask for…unless that pitcher is Jacob deGrom. deGrom has an elite K%, whiff rate, and chase rate so far this season, and he gets a Royals lineup that has really struggled. Kansas City has the 8th highest K rate at home this season and the 9th highest K rate against righties. deGrom struck out nine in his last start and 11 in the start before that. I will take the plus money with a guy pitching as well as deGrom is.

Dustin May Under 4.5 Strikeouts -120 (BetMGM)

Dustin May has looked great in his return from injury this season. However, he is simply just not a strikeout pitcher. May is in the 27th percentile in K rate, and he has a low chase and whiff rate as well. The Mets are last in K rate against righties in all of baseball, and they are last in K rate on the road. May has racked up more than 5 Ks once this season, and the Mets are not a good matchup for him to rack up a lot tonight.
