Jets vs Texans Best Bet

On Sunday, the playoff-hopeful Texans head to MetLife Stadium to take on the Jets. Houston is in the thick of not just the AFC Wild Card race, but with enough wins, could win the AFC South. The Jets are not technically out of the playoff race, but based on how this team has performed over the last month, no one wants to see this team attempting to play meaningful football. So, who has an edge in this Jets vs Texans game? Let’s dive in.

Jets vs Texans – Tech Angle

The Texans are 7-5 SU and 6-6 ATS. The Jets are 4-8 SU and 4-7-1 ATS. The Jets are 6-3 SU and 6-2-1 ATS in their L9 meetings with the Texans. Those games went 5-3-1 to the under. Seven of the Texans’ L9 games have gone under the total, and six of the Jets’ L7 games have gone under the total. The Jets are 1-5 SU in their L6 home games.

The Jets have had the Texans number in their L9 meetings. Of course, this is the first time the Jets will see rookie QB C.J. Stroud, who has been amazing so far in his rookie campaign. However, Stroud has been much better in the dome at home, and on Sunday, he may need to play in inclement weather in New Jersey.

Jets vs Texans – Analysis

The Texans hosted the Broncos on Sunday, and they got a much-needed win for their Wild Card chances. The Texans got out to a 16-3 lead before the Broncos rallied back to make it a game. Denver had the ball close to the Texans’ end zone with time running out, but Houston was able to make the plays they needed to, and they secured the win.

The Texans put up 353 yards of offense and held the Broncos to 282 yards, three turnovers, and 0-11 on third down. It was a good game on offense and defense for Houston, though losing Tank Dell for the season is rough. The Texans were also penalized eight times for 81 yards which could have hurt them.

The Jets hosted the Falcons, got embarrassed, and are back to figuring out who will be under center for them. Early reports on Monday say the Jets want Wilson to start again, but Wilson is vetoing the decision, and he does not want to start. What a joke for Wilson and the Jets. New York did not score a touchdown in their loss. They had a safety early, but then just two field goals. The Jets outgained the Falcons but turned it over three times in another embarrassing performance.

On Sunday, C.J. Stroud heads into MetLife to take on the Jets in a must-win game for Houston. The Jets’ defense is overrated, but their pass defense is legit, and they could be able to cause some problems for Houston. The way to beat the Jets is on the ground, but the Texans have one of the rushing offenses in the NFL. Zach Wilson will be going for the Jets. The total is at 34.5, which makes sense, and the spread of six is also fair, considering the Jets’ strength on defense could hold down this Houston offense.

After Wilson was ruled in, the Texans went from six-point favorites to just 3.5-point favorites. No, Wilson is not that good, so why did the spread drop so much? We have a few guesses. For starters, Wilson is better than Boyle (though that is not saying anything). Also, as we mentioned in the “tech angle,” Stroud is not as good outdoors, and the weather is supposed to be bad, giving the Jets an edge.

Jets vs Texans – Prediction

It is ugly backing the Jets, and considering that the line has moved so much, you are now getting a bad number, but the Jets should cover this number. Their passing defense should be able to slow down Stroud, and their offense should be able to move the ball on this mediocre Texan’s defense.

Predcition – Jets +3.5
