2023 MLB | Best Pitching Related Bets

The MLB season starts in just a few weeks, so now is the time to lock in on some MLB Futures. At the GoldSheet, we already took a deep dive into the AL and NL Cy Young markets, but what bets should you consider locking in?

2023 MLB: Best Bets to win the Cy Young:

Zac Gallen, Arizona Diamondbacks, NL Cy Young (+1500) – Gallen was one of the best pitchers in the NL last season, and he is still ascending. Win-loss records no longer mean much for this award, and that will work in Gallen’s favor. He has all the tools to have another Cy Young-caliber season, and I expect his numbers to be better this year.

Lance Lynn, Chicago White Sox, AL Cy Young (+4000) – Lance Lynn is in the best shape of his career and is looking for a major comeback after a down 2021. Lynn was one of the best pitchers in the AL in 2020 and 2021, so it is not hard to see him regaining his form. At 40-1, this is worth a flyer.

Framber Valdez, Houston Astros, AL Cy Young (+1500) – Valdez finished 5th in Cy Young voting last season, and now he is the ace of the Astros. Valdez has shown he can pitch 25+ games a season, and he proved he is willing to pitch deep into ball games. Considering how he eats innings and is great, there is value in this number.

2023 MLB: Best Bets to lead the MLB in Strikeouts

Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds (+3000) – Greene has a rocky rookie season, but his tools are obvious. He did not qualify for innings pitched, but if he had, he would have finished 5th in the MLB in K/9 last year at 11.75. Greene is just 23 years old, and now with a full year of service time under his belt, he should have a much better sophomore season.

Carlos Rodon, New York Yankees (+1300) – Rodon had an 11.98 K/9 last season, which led all of baseball. Now, with the Yankees, Rodon will be their No. 2 pitcher, and he will look to replicate his success of last season. He finished 3rd in all of baseball in strikeouts last year, but considering the rate he throws them, there is value here.

Aaron Nola, Philadelphia Phillies (+1400) – Nola had a shaky start to 2022, but when he was cruising, he was unhittable. Nola finished 4th in strikeouts last year, and he had a 10.32 K/9. I expect him to improve this season, and his strikeout numbers should increase.
