Pitt was the only team from the division to finish in the top-25 last season. The Panthers lost QB Kenny Pickett to the NFL and the nation’s top receiver, Jordan Addison, to the transfer portal. Quarterback Kedon Slovis transfers in from USC as Pitt looks to maintain some longterm success in the conference, with hopes that last year’s magical season was not just lightning in a bottle.

Former Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal returns to his former stomping grounds in Miami, and he is bringing plenty of talent with him. The Hurricanes attracted a top-10 transfer class, with running backs Henry Parrish (Ole Miss) and Frank Ladson (Clemson), plus defensive lineman Ahkeem Mesidor from West Virginia.

The sidelines in Durham will look a little different this season as Mike Elko takes over for David Cutcliffe. Elko was Jimbo Fisher’s defensive coordinator at Texas A&M for the last four seasons, but does have a history in the ACC after spending four years with Wake Forest and Notre Dame. He’ll be tasked with one of the country’s toughest rebuild projects, as Duke is only projected to return 11 starters from last season.

Clemson’s run of six-straight ACC Championships came to an end last season. Was that a blip on the radar, or has the rest of the conference caught up to the Tigers? Defensive guru Brent Venables has moved on from Death Valley to become Oklahoma’s new head coach.

Despite their struggles last season, we project Clemson to be favored in every this year with only one point spread under a touchdown: -2.5 at Notre Dame in November. DJ Uiagalelei and the Tigers’ offense had their struggles last season, but Clemson still had a top-10 defense including the No. 2 scoring defense. At DraftKings, Clemson is the -135 favorite to win the conference this season, and 12-to-1 to win the National Championship.

Wake Forest was the team to take Clemson’s spot in Charlotte last year, and the Demon Deacons are in pretty good shape to do it again. Fifth-year senior quarterback Sam Hartman will be on a number of preseason watch lists as he looks to re-write Wake’s record book.

Mike Norvell made a big splash in the transfer market, hoping to get Florida State back in the national spotlight. The Seminoles will welcome six new players on offense, including running back Trey Benson and wide receiver Mycah Pittman from Oregon.
